Before I even take a shot at this crazy idea, please, someone debunk me entirely.

We know, we know, you can't mine over 4x GPUs in Win7 and 5x in Win8. Its not cgminer/sgminers fault and its not Windows fault. Its AMD's fault in their drivers for Windows. Windows recognizes all 7 of my GPUs. They can be activated/deactivated installed/uninstalled to my liking to use whichever 4 GPUs that I please.

What if I uninstall 6x GPUs (leaving 1 for Windows), and try to get them running instead in a Ubuntu Virtual Machine? I read somewhere that cgminer cant mine on the cards through the VM, but what if they're actually uninstalled in from Windows hardware manager?

I'm quite well set up with Ubuntu, an instance for each type of card automatically runs on startup for CGminer, and I'm switching to SGminer this weekend. I installed Windows so I could play Sim City again, and I played with CGminer Windows for a little while and got inspired to give this VM idea at least a shot at consideration. I started using my rig as my media machine as well since its in the living room. And Windows is a hell of a lot easier- especially if I need to train my GF to use it.

I figured the community already had a firm verdict on this VM idea already, and there it is.
